  1. Reduce apple cider in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 1/4 cup; let cool.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed; do not over-mix.
  6. Stir in cooled reduced apple cider and caramel bits until evenly distributed.
  7. Chill dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
