  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon EACH: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ¼ cup dry red apple vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon EACH: dried thyme, dried rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch + 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut the sirloin into 1-inch cubes and season with flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, and brown sugar.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the beef in batches; set aside.
  3. Deglaze the pan with apple vinegar to capture flavorful bits.
  4. Sauté onions in butter until soft; add minced garlic for an additional minute.
  5. Combine the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce in the skillet and bring to a boil.
  6. Thicken the gravy with a cornstarch mixture; return the beef to the sauce and simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
